LILIANA SÁNCHEZ builds sensorial narratives to reveal hidden worlds and new materialities. Every time the challenge is for her to engage with the unknown by flipping and turning situations around, pushing things outside the familiar until opening a door to the uncanny, a force that drives a novel desire and curiosity, allowing encounters beyond interpretation for entities so they can speak from their own constellations.
Her work grows in places of uncertainty, researching into paradoxes and digging into study cases, specially those around taxonomy, scientific views and speculations that debate about the way humans in different moments of history relate to the world around them.
With reality as a base ground Sánchez investigates narratives that awake perception, so we can notice the force of transmutation and change. In her series, objects are strong characters with pores, skin and intense textures, while humans are mostly depicted and participate themselves as eaters, in every case life is there to be lived through a body, a category that achieves expanded definitions and forms.
